TAVRF CLOSING AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The news about a bus accident between Tedim and Tonzang Township, Chin state, Myanmar, 17 died and 44 injured has been published via Tongsan email group. The bus is owned by Cinpu and most of the passengers were on their way to celebrate the Cope Centennial Jubilee Ceremony (CCJC), held at Tedim in memorial for the American missionary Rev.Dr.Joseph Herbert Cope who arrived at Tedim in 1908 and in 1913 formulated the Tedim language by using Roman alphabets.

The news spread via radio broadcast stations such as BBC, VOA, DVB, and it saddened Zo people around the world. Shocked by the news, all the people did not know what to do. Then the deeply sympathized World Zomi Congress (WZC) sent a condolence letter to all email groups and called to mark the accident day as a day of national mourning.

Moreover, according to the WZC’s constitution chapter 3, an emergency meeting was organized to discuss for the help for the accident victims. A sub-body called Tedim Accident Victims Relief Fund (TAVRF) was set up on 1 December 2010 to coordinate the donations from Zo people for the victims and their families. Being collected a significant amount of donations and sent them to the concerned parties, the 30th WZC-EC Meeting decided to conclude the TAVRF activities effectively on 25 December 2010. And now we the TAVRF Committee announce the successful conclusion.

Though the TAVRF committee will finish the pending donation works, starting from 1 January 2011, it will not endorse any fund collections for the accident victims under TAVRF name. The WZC and its social branch Zomi Social Welfare Committee (ZSWC) will take care of any future social emergencies. So, we call for your support by any means.

Moreover, all the financial and prayer supports from our bretherens Hakha, Falam, Matupi, Zotung, Zophei, Mindat, Thantlang, Mizo, Paite, and Burmese for the deceased and injured are greatly appreciated. The TAVRF Agents from Tedim and all around the world are also acknowledged.

Happy New 2011 year for you all.
