ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEDIM ACCIDENT VICTIMS RELIEF FUND RAISING PROGRAME CONCLUDES

Tedim Accident Victims Releif Fund (TAVRF) is coming to its conclusion. This Fund was set up to help the victims of a bus accident on the way from Tonzang to Tedim on 26 November 2010. On that accident out of about 80 passengers 16 died and 44 injured. Many of the victims were on their way to participate the Cope Centennial Jubilee Ceremony, 25-28 November 2010, at Tedim Town, Chin State, Myanmar

As the sad news of the accident spread by means of radio broadcast like BBC, VOA and DVB and emails the whole Zo people around the world sympathized with the victims and their families. World Zomi Congress (WZC) was the first to take action to help the victims and relief assistance. On 1 December 2010, it set up the TAVRF  Committee and Official Blog with its main coordinator Sia Khampeek and Rev Paul Khaipu in order to collect donations around the world and WZC General Secretary Pu Thang Lian sent a condolence letter to the victims and their families. This accident and the WZC’s efforts became a historic event in the Zo people.
With the base of its coordination the Fund has help a considerable amount of help in terms of money from Zo people all around the world such as USA, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden, India, Malaysia etc. A detailed report will follow. So, according to the 29th WZC-EC meeting outcome, the Fund committee decided to wrap up its activities effectively on 25 December 2010.
Even though the Fund is to come to cease, the WZC, will continue the humanitarian works through its Zomi Social Welfare Committee (ZSWC).
